Acne face mapping, does it work? Have you heard of it? Can your face really be the road-map to your inner health? Is there any science to back it? Come take a ride with me *winks* and while I hand you a mocha chociato for our 5 minutes road trip down acne face mapping lane, let’s put some A’s to our face mapping Q’s.
What Is Acne Face Mapping?
It’s like that saying, ‘If you gaze deeply into someone’s dreamy eyes, you’ll see their soul’, did you want me to pause a sec while I hand you the sick bucket *winks*. Well by the laws of acne face mapping if you stare deeply at someone’s skin for long enough you’ll be able to tell what’s going on deep inside their body.
Flip that the other way around and acne face mapping tells us that acne in different places on our skin is caused by poor health in different parts of our bodies (stomach, gut, hydration levels…).
It’s part of ancient Chinese medicine that’s based on our bodies being like a busy highway, with all our roads linked up (ready for those road work diversions *jokes*), so when you’ve gotten a poorly tummy or been skipping too many nights sleep, the changes in your body effect the parts of your highway they’re linked up closest with.
Is There Any Proof That Acne Face Mapping Works?
Acne face mapping splits up your beautiful face into over 10 different areas and gives you a handy road-map to the organ that is most likely to be kicking up your acne in that area.
It’s like walking into a 1-acre super market and having a pre-programmed mind-map of exactly where you need to go… imagine the exercise that would save you *coughs* internet food shopper couch potato here *winks*.
While that would be lovely, we’re still waiting for those darn human memory chips to be invented ‘eh!
*I feel like this could be one of those moments when someone comes in with news and tells the person to take a seat ‘eh*. Like there is no human memory chip to get us blitzing through a shopping list in record time, there is also no science to prove the art of acne face mapping.
But while I tell you that, I can also tell you, your face does absolutely tell you about your body’s health. Just not in the handy-map format that acne face mapping tells us it should…
How Your Skin Can Tell you About Your Bodies Health…
As ‘crazy’ as it would be to take acne face mapping as the bible, it’s also crazy to think your skin is in no way linked to your bodies health. It’s zipped on tight enough to follow us around for a lifetime and it’s constantly getting reborn and shed (a little more elegantly than a snakes *winks*).
You are what you eat and what you eat feeds your body to be able to make fresh, new ‘n sparkly skin cells that you get to see about 30 days after they’re first born. They’re a bit shy ya know…
There’s lots of ‘known scientific’ ways that your skin helps your body ring the alarm bells that something isn’t quite right.
If your liver is a little under-the-weather (or a lot!) your skin can turn yellow (jaundice), if you’re allergic to something you’ve eaten or put on your skin, you might get hives or a rash, If your hormone levels are changing that knock-on effects your bodies sebum production which can give you those horrible hormonal cystic acne spots.
There’s also a nicely mounting pile of evidence that chronic skin conditions like Rosacea are caused by an over-growth of bad gut bacteria. Conditions like diabetes have a whole book of skin conditions that are warning signs of your body not being able to control blood-sugar levels.
The one most of us right now, or at some point in the past have suffered from has to be those pesky hormones. They tend to get to work on our skin in areas that get most effected by ‘sex/puberty’ type hormones.
Think of anywhere a man would usually grow ‘man-hairs’ from that women usually wouldn’t – the chin, the chest, the back… and those are the places that hormonal acne tends to strike. They are the areas programmed to be more ‘in-tune’ or reactive to changes in our bodies chemistry.
Areas like our chin are a finely tuned radio picking up on our hormonal messages. They’ve cracked our code and they’re not afraid to use it.
I’ve experienced this first hand, suffering from pesky cystic chin acne thanks to my at the time chosen method of ‘no children yet please’ and once I sorted that out I accidently stumbled over the effect dairy was also having on skin (again acne – gheez my skin defo has it’s preferences *winks*). Did ya know dairy, especially cow’s milk is full of hormones…?
Feed your body a diet high in saturated fats, loaded with sugars, giving you big blood sugar swings (and hormonal effects!) and there’s a load of scientific studies to link these 2 culprits to the crime of acne.
While there is that, you can also just get a darn annoying spot in a completely random place cus there was too much dead skin about that pore, or it was just the right size to get blocked by a new cream you switched to.
So although there is no scientific evidence to back the art of Chinese acne face mapping, there is scientific evidence to back that acne can be caused in certain places due to hormones and that your skin can definitely tell you about the health of your body.
Have you heard about acne face mapping? Where is it you’re most likely to get a pesky spot or 2?
