How great is that feeling when you get something for much, much less than you should be paying for it.
A H&M jacket you have saved to your favourite list which goes into the sale for better than half price.
A Groupon voucher for a massage you would have paid full price for but is now sorted for you at 33% of the cost.
A random act of kindness which will have you walking to work with a free Pret coffee and a skip in your step – did you know they actually do this (!) how awesome ‘eh.
In the world of skincare, the same doesn’t happen so often… until recently.
Dear friend there’s a new brand on the block and it’s called Beauty Pie – luxury skincare (and makeup, makeup brushes, candles and gifts) at factory prices.
Factory prices which look like £5.15, £4.57, £10.32.
Which may have you asking;
What the heck is Beauty Pie? Tell me more now.
Is Beauty Pie worth it? Is their skincare really luxury?
What are the best Beauty Pie products?
What Beauty Pie skincare dupes should I be bagging up before someone realises they priced it wrong?
Come read with me my fellow skin savvy because I’ve got your answers…
Beauty Pie: What is it? How does it work?
Beauty Pie are a beauty brand with a very, very different business model. A business model which means you can grab yourself luxury beauty at bargain basement prices.
Have you ever wondered whether skincare products like Creme de la Mer are really worth it?
Truth is – they’re usually not.
Flip to the ingredients list and what you’ll find is usually worth a tenth of the price you’re paying.
…which is because luxury brands are putting a goldmine sized amount of investment into advertising, branding, packaging design, the right taglines, prime real-estate store space and more.
Which is where the other 90% of what you’re paying, goes.
The membership fee then allows you to get your hands on all Beauty Pie products at factory cost prices. Wowzer, which for £10 a month, really isn’t a huge investment.
Beauty Pie: Is there a catch?
Here’s what to expect from a Beauty Pie Membership aka these are the only catches you will experience if signing up. Less like catches but more like need-to-knows/ add-on extras.
- £10 a month gets you a £100 spending limit
- The £100 spending limit is the adding up of the original price i.e. not the factory price you pay
- You pay the factory price on top of your £10 monthly subscription
- You also pay shipping which in the UK is £3.36 and in the US is $8.27
Here’s what this means, take a look at this skincare dupe (which by the way is one I’d definitely recommend);
If adding this Beauty Pie skincare dupe to your basket you will pay £12.88 on-top of your £10 membership fee. Then, see that regular price of £50? This is what comes off of your £100 monthly spending limit. Meaning you have a £50 regular price monthly spending limit remaining.
Beauty Pie skincare dupe for: Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm
Best for: Dry to normal skin types.
Avoid if; You have spot prone or acne prone skin.
Beauty Pie skincare review/Why this is a great Beauty Pie skincare dupe; The Beauty Pie Plantastic Apricot Butter Cleansing Balm has a fantastic list of ingredients for skin conditioning. Cleansing your skin is a huge danger step as naturally your skin needs oils in its top layers to stay healthy and hydrated. Lots of cleansers can take too many of yours away. But – cleanse with oils and this becomes scientifically impossible. Oils can never take away too many of your skin’s oils. The Beauty Pie Plantastic Apricot Butter Cleansing Balm also has some standout skin conditioners e.g. lanolin (which yes, is a more pricey skincare ingredient), castor seed oil (an ingredient of the original oil cleansing method), apricot and rosehip oils. Winner.
Is Beauty Pie Worth It?
Are Beauty Pie Skincare products really luxury, high-end skincare dupes? Can you really be getting more than you’re paying for? Is this a whole cake for half the calories?
Here’s what I see with my skincare formulators eye when I look through the Beauty Pie skincare ingredients lists;
- There’s a focus on plant-based actives
- Like other luxury skincare products there’s an experience giving dose of silicone based texturizers – they help a skincare product to feel really great when you put it on, spread easily and evenly and sometimes even blur away fine lines and wrinkles
- A good focus on, proven to work ‘IT’ skincare ingredients – retinol, vitamin C, liquorice extract, ceramides, hyaluoronic acid
- Nice delivery of active skincare ingredients i.e. slow release retinol – something definitely worth paying for to help avoid those pesky skin drying retinol side effects
- A happy no we don’t use these ingredients lists e.g. parabens, oxybenzone
- Lots of ingredients in moderate concentrations
- Hot on the tails of key skincare trends – naturals, Japan/Korean skincare, skincare boosters
…and yes looking at the formulas, what you get would cost a lot more if buying these skincare products under a different brand name.
Take for instance another of my highly recommended Beauty Pie skincare products;
Beauty Pie skincare dupe for: Gets around the patent which protects SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic Acid Serum.
Best for: Mature, experienced, fine lines & wrinkles, uneven skin tone, protective against ageing.
Beauty Pie skincare review/Why this is a great Beauty Pie skincare dupe; Ascorbic acid is the skincare version of vitamin C with the most well-proven benefits to its name. Vitamin C is an ingredient your skin needs to build collagen i.e. to resist fine lines and wrinkles. One of the most famous skincare products for vitamin C is SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic Acid Serum – which by the way carries a whoppingly huge price tag of £135. SkinCeuticals can charge this much because they hold a protecting patent preventing anyone else from making the exact same formula. Vitamin C as ascorbic acid is great for skin – but – it can go off super-dooperly quickly. Vitamin E helps stop this but ferulic acid can help stop this to superhero standards.
My friend, this is what the SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic Acid Serum covers. But hold up – now we have a new superhero – the Beauty Pie formula of – Superactive Capsules Pure Double Vitamin C & Vitamin E Serum – which is carefully protected in individual doses in a water free formula.
Psst! Both water and air are what make vitamin C go off at lightning speed. As Beauty Pie’s Superactive Capsules of Pure Vitamin C & E stop every individual dose from experiencing both until they’re already interacting with your skin – they cleverly get around the SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic Acid Serum patent. Another Beauty Pie skincare winner.
Beauty Pie Skincare Reviews
Dear skin savvy, here are some of the best – in my opinion – Beauty Pie Skincare products;
1. Beauty Pie Plantastic Apricot Butter Cleansing Balm
2. Beauty Pie Superactive Capsules Pure Double Vitamin C & Vitamin E Serum
Best for: Mature, experienced, fine lines & wrinkles, uneven skin tone, anti-ageing.
Beauty Pie skincare review/Why this is a great Beauty Pie skincare dupe; Retinol is the gold standard in anti-ageing actives BUT all that activity comes at a price – dryness, which can mean you also get flaky, red and irritated skin. The Beauty Pie Super Retinol Ceramide-Boost Anti-Ageing Face Serum helps say no to retinol side effects by using a lovely combination of ceramides to help sooth, hydrate and repair your skin.
Psst! Ceramides are a skin identical ingredient your skin needs to stay healthy. They basically condition the top layers of your skin allowing your skin barrier to lock in hydration.

Beauty Pie claim their Super Retinol Ceramide-Boost Anti-Ageing Face Serum is a 3% encapsulated retinol complex which doesn’t mean 3% retinol but means there’s 3% of the retinol plus the ingredient which help time release it. Looking at the ingredients list the actual concentration of retinol will be below equal to or below 1% because it comes after the preservative which can only legally be allowed in a 1% concentration. If you’re an experienced retinol user, this Beauty Pie pick is equivalent to 0.09% pure retinol.
Best for: fine lines & wrinkles, anti-ageing.
Beauty Pie skincare review/Why this is a great Beauty Pie skincare dupe; Another fantastic skincare shot you can use to power-up your existing skincare routine. This time Beauty Pie have chosen hyaluronic acid and peptides – these are great anti-ageing ingredients if you have a skin type you’d describe as sensitive, or if you just want to treat your skin type sensitively.
Best for: All skin types.
Beauty Pie skincare review/Why this is a great Beauty Pie skincare dupe; With 95% naturally derived ingredients the Beauty Pie Double Phase Daily Deep Rinse-Off Facial Cleanser is another kind to skin cleansing win. Goes on creamy, comes off like milk.
Best for: Uneven skin tone, pigmentation, post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation, age spots, anti-ageing benefits.
Beauty Pie skincare review/Why this is a great Beauty Pie skincare dupe; Featuring star skincare ingredient niacinamide which does everything from lightning and brightening to skin barrier restoring to fine line resolving to acne fighting. Looking at the ingredients list there’s a combination of actives which are going to have an instant i.e. light reflecting/blurring and long-tern i.e. lightening effect.
The Extra’s You Should Know About Beauty Pie…
The really, really good bits! What you might be surprised by when receiving your first Beauty Pie box is how crazy light it is. A ton of luxury skincare uses somewhat sneaky marketing tricks to make you feel like a skincare products more expensive i.e. they make the product heavier so you feel like it’s worth more, they add a pretty lid or make the packaging look like a work of art.
Beauty Pie says no – we will not weight our packaging.
Beauty Pie also says – yes – we will use recyclable packaging, yes we will use plant-based inks and yes we will make our products as ecological as possible.
While these aren’t benefits for your skin, they’re definitely feel good benefits for making your heart sing. Bonus.
